New Filings of COVID-19 Related Lawsuits are Falling
Federal court filings related to the COVID-19 pandemic are starting to fall, according to an analysis done by LexisNexis company LexMachina. They found that from January through August there were 3,362 COVID-19 related lawsuits filed in Federal Courts across the country. Filings reached their peak in May with 808 new suits and had decreased to 660 by August.
The report also breaks down the types of cases filed and found the majority are related to insurance and breach of contract claims. Employment related claims are third but have been rising while others are falling.
